Amazon delivered a very strong top-line result, but investors focused on the significant step-up in AI spending. Also up for discussion was US consumer confidence, which is trending higher for those with large stock portfolios - little surprise given the Dow Jones has pushed through 50,000 for the first time ever.
Looking at New Zealand, the earnings season kicks off this week. Overall, the bar of expectation is fairly low, but the key question is whether domestically focused corporates are starting to see green shoots.
