This means 100% of Generate funds meet Mindful Money’s responsible investment standards, giving members confidence that their savings are managed responsibly, transparently and with long-term sustainability in mind.
What Mindful Money’s Mindful Fund accreditation means
The Mindful Fund badge is awarded to funds that:
• avoid investments that cause significant harm
• demonstrate strong stewardship
• support more sustainable long-term investment practices

The latest Morningstar KiwiSaver results to 30 September 2025 highlight this long-term consistency:

Generate considers a wide range of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors to help manage risk and deliver competitive long-term returns for members.
Our exclusions policy ensures we avoid investing in companies involved in:
• the processing of whale meat
• the manufacturing of cluster munitions, anti-personnel mines and nuclear explosive devices
• tobacco production
We also apply screening processes to limit exposure to other areas of concern and regularly refine our criteria in line with evolving global standards.

Investing for positive impact
Generate are also supporters of impact investing; investments that deliver positive, measurable outcomes for New Zealand communities and the environment.
For example:
• Generate partnered with Community Finance and Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust (ŌCHT), committing $14 million to finance 35 new community homes in Christchurch.
• Generate is a major shareholder in Skyline Healthcare Group (SHG), New Zealand’s market leader in aeromedical transport, providing essential scheduled and emergency patient transfers nationwide.
These investments demonstrate how responsible investing can support meaningful outcomes across New Zealand.
New KiwiSaver funds now accredited
In April 2025, Generate launched three new high-growth KiwiSaver funds – all now accredited as Mindful Funds:
• Generate KiwiSaver Australasian Fund
• Generate KiwiSaver Thematic Fund
• Generate KiwiSaver Global Fund
Each fund has a 98% allocation to growth assets, making them higher-risk options designed for long-term investors comfortable with market volatility.
New Managed Funds now accredited
Generate also expanded its Managed Funds range with three new funds, all now awarded the Mindful Fund badge:
• Global Managed Fund – A globally diversified portfolio focused on high-quality companies, growth opportunities and undervalued equities.
• Fixed Interest Fund – A diversified fixed interest portfolio emphasising corporate bonds and macro-driven active management.
• CashPlus Fund – A low-risk cash and cash-equivalents fund designed for capital stability.
(This mirrors our Generate KiwiSaver Defensive Fund, which has been renamed CashPlus.)
A milestone for Generate
Generate’s Focused Growth, Growth and Moderate Funds have carried the Mindful Fund badge since April 2022. In 2023, the Balanced, Conservative and Defensive Funds were also accredited.
With the addition of six newly launched funds in 2025, every Generate KiwiSaver and Managed Fund is now independently accredited as a Mindful Fund – a significant milestone for our members and our long-term commitment to responsible investing.
