We’ve been braving the cold and diving in for the Live Ocean Mid-Winter Dip for six years now, raising an incredible amount of money along the way. This year, we're inviting Generate members to join us and help make an even bigger splash for this important cause.
For every Generate member, adviser, or team member who takes the plunge, we’ll donate $500 to the Live Ocean Foundation. Last year we raised $38,000, and this year we’re aiming even higher.
Why do we do it?
The Mid-Winter Dip is held in June to align with World Ocean Day, held each year on 8 June. It’s a global movement to protect and restore our oceans – something that’s close to our hearts. To keep the conversation going all month, we’ve timed our dip around the winter solstice.
Our charity partner, the Live Ocean Foundation, was co-founded by Olympic and America’s Cup sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke. They support high-impact marine conservation projects across Aotearoa and beyond – helping protect marine life and raising awareness of the urgent challenges facing our ocean.
As one of our key charity partners, we’re proud to get involved each year to raise both funds and awareness for the incredible work Live Ocean does.
So grab your togs, gather your crew, and take the plunge between 19–22 June. Let’s make waves for a healthier ocean – together.

About the Live Ocean Foundation
Founded by Olympic sailors Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, the Live Ocean Foundation focuses on blue carbon research, protecting at-risk marine species like the Antipodean albatross and Southern Right Whale, and creating detailed seafloor maps to aid conservation efforts. It also raises public awareness, engages communities, and advocates for strong marine conservation policies to ensure the health and sustainability of New Zealand's oceans for future generations.
Since partnering with the foundation in 2020, we’ve donated over $200,000 to the Live Ocean Foundation – and for six years we’ve celebrated World Ocean Day by taking part in the Live Ocean Mid-Winter Dip. This sixth year we’re excited to see just how many of our Generate members take part and how much money we can raise.
